Biography
Cristi Puiu (b. 1967, Romania) studied cinema at the Ecole Supérieure d'Arts Visuels in Geneva. His debut feature STUFF AND DOUGH (2001) screened at Cannes' Directors' Fortnight, after which his short film CIGARETTES AND COFFEE (2004) won the Golden Bear for Best Short at the Berlinale. Puiu was previously at DIFF with THE DEATH OF MR. LAZARESCU (2005, Cannes Prix Un Certain Regard).
