Biography

Danny Hahn is a novelist, philosopher, and screenwriter. His published books include works on audiovisual art, dreams, and synaesthesia; introducing new topics to phenomenology and aesthetics, such as cinematic primitivism. His research writings contribute to cinema studies, including pieces on directors such as Bresson, Dreyer, Ozu, Tati and Tarkovsky.

His fiction works explore themes such as sexuality, solitude, neurosis and monomania in a variety of genres. Much of his writing talents grew from a practical working life as a filmmaker and university lecturer; bringing academic and creative experience onto paper. His specialism in writing on music, philosophy and film began at college, where he trained as a classical violinist and composer, studied a degree and PhD in cinema, and attended the Berlinale Talent Campus.
