Biography
Rashida Jones, with her versatility in both comedic and dramatic roles, has quickly established herself as one of Hollywood's bright stars.
She starred in David Fincher’s critically acclaimed, award-winning drama THE SOCIAL NETWORK, opposite Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake. She was subsequently seen in Adam Shapiro's relationship drama MONOGAMY, opposite Chris Messina, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it won Best New York Narrative.
Jones, who was recently recognized as one of Variety's Screenwriters to Watch, is attached to star in the adaptation of her first script with writing partner Will McCormack, entitled CELESTE AND JESSE FOREVER. The film focuses on a young couple in the midst of a divorce who attempt to maintain their friendship while pursuing new relationships. Team Todd is attached to produce. In addition, Jones recently sold the script for a comic book that she wrote and created, "Frenemy of the State," to Universal Pictures.
On television, Jones can currently be seen on NBC's "Parks and Recreation." As Ann the nurse, she stars opposite Amy Poehler. Nominated for a 2010 TCA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy, the series will return for a fourth season this fall. Jones caught the attention of audiences and the industry alike when she portrayed the ambitious saleswoman, Karen Filippelli, in NBC's Emmy Award winning comedy “The Office,” opposite Steve Carell.
She graduated from Harvard University, where she appeared in several plays including “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf,” “Dancing at Lughnasa,” “The Odd Couple: The Female Version,” and “H.M.S. Pinafore.” She was also in “Pitching to the Star,” with Peggy Lipton, at the Lee Strasberg Theatre.
Past film credits include writer/director John Hamburg’s I LOVE YOU, MAN, starring opposite Paul Rudd and Jason Segal; and LITTLE BLACK BOOK, opposite Holly Hunter and Kathy Bates. On television, she also starred as Kate on “Unhitched,” a half-hour comedy for Fox from the Farrelly brothers. Previous television credits include David E. Kelley's “Boston Public” for Fox; Jorge Zamacoma's “Wanted” for TNT, as well as Judd Apatow's “Freaks and Geeks,” IF THESE WALLS COULD TALK II, “The Chappelle Show,” and the British television series “Ny-Lon.” Jones was also a weekly correspondent on the talk show “Vibe TV.”
Jones currently resides in Los Angeles.
