Biography

Victor Fleming (1883-1949) was an American film director, cinematographer and producer. He started in cinematography then directed many silent films. He made his breakthrough with the western The Virginian (1929). Among his most famous star-studded works are Red Dust (1932), Treasure Island (1934), Captains Courageous (1937), The Wizard of Oz (1939), and Gone With the Wind (1939).
