Biography

Born in 1961 in Mexico, Alfonso Cuarón moves to the USA after a successful career in his native country, particularly in television. He soon moves into feature films, with A Little Princess (1995) and Great Expectations (1998) before returning to Mexico to make Y Tu Mamá También (2001), which wins him Best Screenplay in Venice. In 2004 he directs the third Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, then Children of Men in 2006. In 2013 he makes Gravity, winning the Oscar for Best Director.
