Biography

Living and working in Brussels, Claude Schmitz studied Film Directing at INSAS, the National Institute of Performing Arts and Directing of Belgium. Schmitz is a theatre director, being an associate artist at the Halles de Schaerbeek and having his work presented at the Theatre la Balsamine, the Filature Liège, the Salzburg Festival, HumainTROPHumain, the Théâtre de l'Union (CDN) of Limoges, and the l’Onde Théâtre Centre, among others. Working as a filmmaker, he directed the medium-length films Nothing But Summer (2017), premiered at Cinéma du Réel and awarded at Brive, and Carwash (2018), premiered at FIDMarseille and awarded the Jean Vigo Award. Lucie Loses her Horse had its premiere at the Brussels International Film Festival and Rotterdam.
