Pilar Palomero started in 2013 a master’s in film Directing at the Film Factory (Sarajevo) under the leadership of Hungarian filmmaker Béla Tarr. Before, she worked for several years as a screenwriter and film and audiovisual teacher. Her short films have been screened at festivals such as the Warsaw International Film Festival, the Sarajevo Film Festival, the Doc Lisboa, the Saint Louis International Film Festival, the Huesca Film Festival, the Malaga Festival or the Busan International Short Film Festival. She has participated in the 2017 Talents section of the Berlinale Talents and in 2016 Sarajevo Talents (Pack & Pitch). Her first feature film Las Niñas was premiered at the Berlinale 2020 and won the Silver Biznaga at the Malaga Film Festival. The film won four Goya Awards including Best Film, Best Original Screenplay, Best New Direction and Best Cinematography, and four Gaudí Awards including Best Film in a non-Catalan language and Best Director.
