Biography
VLADIMIR KHOTINENKO (1952, Slavgorod, Altai region, Russia) In 1976 graduated with honors from the Sverdlovsk Institute of Architecture. In 1978-1982 worked as an art director at the Sverdlovsk Film Studio. In 1981 graduated from the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors (class of N.Mikhalkov). Debuted as a director with the movie Alone and Unarmed (1984, with P. Farhutdinov). Teaches at VGIK, the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors. Merited Worker of Arts of the Russian Federation, People's Artist of the Russian Federation. His works include: Mirror for a Hero (1988), Patriotic Comedy (1992, "Kinoshok" award for directing), Makarov (1993, "Kinoshok" and "Nika" awards), A Moslem (1995, Gran Prix of the IFF in Montreal), 72 Meters (2003, "Golden Eagle" award), Dostoyevsky (2012, TV series, "Golden Eagle" award), Demons (2014, TV series, "Golden Eagle" award).
