Jaione Camborda studied at the Prague (FAMU) and Munich (HFF) film schools. She later moved to Galicia, where she direct short films such as Proba de axilidade (2015), Nimbos (2015), Lilit (2015) and Rapa das bestas (2017), which screened at different festivals and harvested numerous awards. Arima, her first feature film, landed her among other accolades Best Directing in the Nuevas Olas section of Seville European Film Festival. Her second feature film, O corno do centeo, was selected for the Ikusmira Berriak programme.
