Biography
Mariano Llinás started off his career in cinema in 2002 with Balnearios, an ironic and unconventional filmic essay about luxurious Argentinian bathresorts. He reached a wider recognition with his project Historias extraordinarias (2008), a four-hour film full of interwoven mysteries, which was lauded by Argentine critics and received numerous awards, including the Special Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the Independent Film Festival of Buenos Aires (Bafici). Llinás is part of El Pampero Cine, a group of filmmakers who try to carry out their activities outside of the traditional financing structures of industrial cinema. In 2011 he won the Konex Award as one of the 5 best film directors of the decade in Argentina.
