Biography
Born in Buenos Aires, he settled in Spain with his family at a young age. He studied Dramatic Arts with Cristina Rota and Daniel Sánchez. To complete his studies, he took dance classes with Agustín Belusci. His first main role was given to him by Fernando Colomo in 1998, as the main character in the film Los años bárbaros, for which he was nominated for the Goya Award as Best New Actor. Colomo relied on him again for the film Cuarteto de La Habana. Later, he worked on films such as Los lobos de Washington, by Mariano Barroso (for which he won the Best Actor Award at the Toulouse Film Festival) or Yoyes, by Elena Taberna (for which he was again awarded as Best Actor at the Toulouse Film Festival). From that moment on Ernesto’s career developed solidly and he worked with some of the best directors in Spanish cinema, in films such as David Serrano’s Football Days (2003), for which he was nominated for the Goya Award for Best Leading Actor or Marcelo Piñeiro’s The Method (2005), for which he was nominated for the Silver Condor Award in Argentina. His filmography includes The Widows of Thursdays (2009), by Marcelo Piñeiro, Clandestine Childhood (2011), directed by Benjamín Ávila, Who Killed Bambi? (2013), directed by Santi Amodeo, Easy Sex, Sad Movies (2014), directed by Alejo Flah, Perfectos desconocidos (2017) by Álex de la Iglesia, La Sombra de la Ley (2018) directed by Dani de la Torre and Lo dejo cuando quiera (2019) by Carlos Therón. Ernesto has always combined his work in film with theatre and television. Highlights of his theatre career are plays like Oedipus Rex, directed by Jorge Lavelli, and Yo, el heredero, directed by Francesco Saporano. On television, he has starred in highly successful series such as Juan José Campanella’s Vientos de Agua, Ignacio Mercero’s La chica de ayer and Félix Viscarret’s Marco. He also participated on Netflix’s Las Chicas del Cable and Narcos and David Galán’s Orígenes Secretos.
