He is a filmmaker, screenwriter and producer working in Tamil cinema. In 1999 he made his feature debut with Sethu, and later he directed Nandha (2001) and Son of Ancestors (2003). For his fourth feature film, I Am God (2009), he received the Golden Lotus Award to the Best Director at the National Film Awards. His filmography also includes Avan Ivan (2011), the period drama Vagabond (2013), Tharai Thappattai (2016), Naachiyaar (2018) and Varma (2020).
