Robert Webb grew up in Lincolnshire and was educated at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Horncastle and then Robinson College, Cambridge where he studied English. Whilst there, he was a member of the Footlights Dramatic Club where he met David Mitchell and the two formed a double act performing their 2-man comedy shows on the London and Edinburgh Fringe.
