Biography

King Hu (1932–1997) is universally recognized as one of the most influential and important Chinese directors in the history of cinema. He directed his first feature Sons of the Good Earth in 1965, which he followed up with the first wuxia (swordplay martial-arts) movie Come Drink With Me. His ambitious epic A Touch of Zen was the first Chinese film to win an award at Cannes.
