Biography

Adam was born and raised in New York City and began acting at 17 when he was cast as Jud Fry in his high school’s production of Oklahoma! This led to a scholarship at a theater camp in New Hampshire. The following year, Trese was accepted into the 4 year acting program of SUNY Purchase where he graduated cum laude. That summer, he won a highly coveted “spear carrier” role in the New York Public Theater’s 1991 production of Othello. Later that summer, he was cast in SUNY Purchase alum Nick Gomez’s first feature, Laws of Gravity. That film’s success led to be him being cast by Steven Soderbergh in The Underneath and Alan Taylor’s first feature Palookaville (Sundance 1996). While a guest of the festival in 1996, Trese was introduced to a producer over a slice of pizza which led to him being cast in Theresa Connelly’s first feature, Polish Wedding (Sundance 1998). Trese has also appeared opposite Josh Hartnett in 40 Days and 40 Nights and had a supporting role in David Fincher's Zodiac.

He has starred in 3 television pilots and has guest starred in several television shows including, Law & Order Criminal Intent, Law & Order, 30 Rock, Rescue Me, NYPD Blue, The Sopranos, Homicide: Life on the Streets and Murder She Wrote.

Trese has also acted on Broadway in two award winning revivals: A View From The Bridge, directed by Michael Mayer and 12 Angry Men, directed by Scott Ellis. He lives in New York with his wife and 3 year old son.
