Justine Triet is a graduate from the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She has directed several films that tackle the place of the individual in a group. Sur Place (2007) was shot during student demonstrations, while Solférino (2008) was made during the presidential elections. In 2009 she directed Des ombres dans la maison in a Sao Paulo’s neighbourhood. Vilaine fille, mauvais garçon a medium-length fiction film was granted several awards. Her first feature film, La Bataille de Solférino (Age of Panic) premiered at Cannes ACID 2013 and was nominated for Best First Feature Film at the 2014 César Awards. Victoria (In Bed with Victoria), her second feature film opened the International Critics' Week section at Cannes 2016. Starred by Virginie Efira, the film was nominated for the César Awards for Best Film and Best Original Screenplay. Her third feature film Sibyl premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, competing for the Palme d'Or.
