A slightly second-rate take on Godzilla, but while Japanese Godzillas (not Emmerich's crap) are fun to watch and you don't mind the technical imperfections, its Hollywood cousin Gargantua makes you wonder about the rubbish that can be put on a filmstrip. Terrible in every aspect, from the direction to the actors and the visual effects. And just when you think nothing can surprise you, along comes a musical theme that blatantly rips off Silvestri's from Predator. But fans of bad movies will surely find "their thing". For example, there’s a pathetic and seriously meant monologue of a soldier standing by the monster's corpse is irresistibly comic. And there’s a lot more from where it came from.
