One Summer of Happiness

When Göran has graduated from college, he goes to his uncle's farm for a rest. There he meets Kerstin, a neighbour's daughter. They fall madly in love, and when his uncle is hurt in an accident, Göran assumes responsibility for the farm. But Kerstin's aunt discovers the young lovers in the attic one night during a storm. Kerstin is sent away, but Göran learns where she is staying, and they become lovers. Despite the opposition of his parents, Göran returns to the farm. And, one evening, after putting on a show for the locals, they head home together on his motorcycle. There is a crash, and Kerstin dies. The clergyman inveighs against him at her funeral, and Göran rushes away from the service to attempt to console himself with his memories. (official distributor synopsis)
