A medieval icon acts as the symbol for this thrillertype film. Two men, Bruno - a seemingly proper family man, and Rickard, who is somewhat younger - and is preoccupied with existential problems - satisfy their desire for adventure and their monetary needs by commissioned thefts. Now they steal a valuable icon from a medieval church somewhere in Europe. Rickard, however, fails to deliver the icon to the fence, fascinated by the story about the images on the icon - a tale of fratricide. When Rickard returns to his shabby apartment, his younger brother Harald - a comic-strip artist - is missing. Yet someone appears to have access to their apartment. Rickard finds hidden photographs of sexual orgies and strange comic-strip sketches into which the photo portraits of members of his family have been inserted. Rickard starts a desperate search for his brother. In the cruel denouement, Rickard finds traces of his detached roots. Will he return again to his former way of life, encouraged by his buddy and perhaps father figure Bruno? (official distributor synopsis)
