1958, Budapest. Gerencsér is a skilled worker at the abattoir, his wife left in 1956. They falls in love with the beautiful Mrs. Hász at the personnel management department, but they only date secretly because of a former relationship of Mária. They go on holiday and travel to the Mátra, just the two of them. One night men burst onto them in the company of Tibor, the former lover of Mária. Tibor used to be an intelligence officer, he still has the power to have his competitor shadowed and beaten. Gerencsér insists on Mária and his assumed human rights. After a tremendous blow he gets into a mental asylum with brain damage. After two years Mária - already the wife of Tibor and a mother - finds him accidentally in the park of the institute. The man flees into the sick-ward from the proximity of the woman. (official distributor synopsis)
