1946. Borok Vince, party secretary, and Holló Döme, former landowner, arrive in Nagybö-kény the same day at Easter. The latter wants to get back his castle and land with the help of his attorney. Albert József, the police-chief, wants to strengthen Communist power with tough actions. His R-guards disperse the clerical torch march. Borok Vince wants to see gentler methods applied in order to make people take his side and not Holló's. The landowner has the food-stores of the city robbed to provoke confusion. Elections are coming up, both sides make campaign speeches. Vince and his companions reveal Holló's scheming and the majority of the people vote for the Communists.
