Africa's the place and Ace is on the case, setting out to rescue an animal he loathes; a bat! Jim Carrey returns as Ace, the alligator-wrasslin', elephant-calling, monkeyshining, loogie-launching, disguise-mastering pet detective. If you're ready to laugh like a pack of hyenas, if you want more fun than an industrial-sized barrel of monkeys, you know what to do. Heed the call. (Miramax Films)

English I still remember the endless queues at the video store and the huge poster for Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. It was great. The second film was filled even more with Carrey-esque humor and the trip to Africa only underlined the whole experience. However, the cartoon and Ventura Jr. didn't stand a chance. ()

English The first Ace Ventura is a mostly relaxing romp with a theatrically over-the-top Jim Carrey. When Nature Calls is more of a romp with an overly annoying Carrey. The second adventure of this animal (well, except for the bats) is rife with wacky to bizarre scenes that irritated rather than amused me. The "detective" level also worked better in the first one. As a result, When Nature Calls is suitable primarily for Carrey fans with a high tolerance for his character. ()

English Ace Ventura is back and not even the great Carrey can save him for the second time. This time he gets his feet kicked by the utterly boring direction and a dull script. Still, thanks to the main character (or rather, the actor) and a few good scenes, it's watchable without significant harm. ()

English The incredible Jim Carrey – it's up to you how you take it, because this is exactly the kind of film where his acting and associated sick humour will forever divide fans into two hostile camps. I don’t mind this madman, on the contrary I bow to his tireless creativity, but unfortunately everything around him bothered me a bit. Even a full-feature one man show needs a proper and meaningful story, it’s a fact... 55% ()
