What does life look like for a woman who doesn’t want to end up as a lifelong homemaker? A woman who doesn’t want to be defined by the word “mother?” 39-years-old Clara has left her native village in eastern Germany to earn a doctorate in philosophy in Berlin. As an ambitious intellectual, she has little time for her adolescent daughter, nor for her aging mother. When she comes home for a family gathering, she is finally forced to confront her own values.
