Zatoichi gets tangled up in a very interesting story, which brings with it elements that are typical for Japan, but they haven't been emphasized as much in this series. This could also be due to the time period. The fights are not as grand, but still very good and intense. Zatoichi is not the only character who stands out in the story, which is good.
