Many of us experience trauma in our lifetime, but some do not recover with time. Trauma then persists and complicates ordinary lives. How to treat it when each case is specific? Post-traumatic stress disorder is usually associated with soldiers returning from war, however, causes may vary: terrorist attacks, traffic accidents, sexual violence, or life in a unsatisfactory environment. As shown by the example of a married couple, two people can have completely different reactions to the same stress situation. PTSD manifests not only in a person’s experience of life, it can also be observed in an MRI scan. Thankfully, a study has been conducted into how to give relief to those affected.
