How can a person make himself heard in a society which is more and more market oriented, which becomes more and more standardized, and which finds increasingly less space for individual character? A director feels he is about to lose himself to the market forces, and believes that his only means of protest lies in making a political film. He addresses Thomas Hylland Eriksen, who will be his spokesman and articulate what is wrong. But in the process, the director gets distracted by another person, a young, hesitant girl who to a certain degree resembles himself. She on her side has discovered that she has a unique talent for origami, and tries to figure out how to share it with the rest of the world. The big question is if society has a place for origami.
