English I haven't read the book, which - given the comments here - is probably a good thing, as I certainly wouldn’t have been able to resist comparing the series to it. I would classify All The Light We Cannot See as a sort of hybrid consisting of a war movie and a fairy tale romance, while I would prefer to take the historical plane (WWII) and its accurateness with a grain of salt. Likewise, I can rise above the linguistic blunders, of which there are quite a few. From a technical point of view, it's a solid piece of work with a believable atmosphere of a bombed-out town on the French coast. The casting in general is good - praise must surely go to Aria Mia Loberti and her debut performance, though the demonic Lars Eidinger was too theatrical and literal by the end. After reading the summary of the book on Wikipedia, I was glad the miniseries ended that way. A weaker four stars! P.S. (Spoiler) I couldn't help but think of old Rose from Titanic at the end. ()
