Plots(1)
In the last days of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, the commander of a three thousand-strong Hungarian troop garrisoning at the river Tisza is waiting in vain for the command to move against the Romanians. His old friend, captain Vajda, who has just come from the headquarters advises him, however, to go over to the Whites in Szeged. The commander arrests his comrade who was going to "save the nation". The commissar wants to break through towards the line of the Soviet troops when they learn the news about the resignation of the Republic of Councils' Government. The commander entrusts Magda, his love, to lead the brigade in their fleeing. He himself gets killed while he is trying to cover the retreat of the brigade with a heavy machine-gun squad.
