A spy series with no ambition. The director has some decent notches to his name (Patriots Day, Bridge of Spies...) and the duo of Charlie Cox (Daredevil) and Olga Kurylenko also promised big things. Sadly, that doesn't happen and Treason is merely a generic genre product. It lacks pace, the action is all one-note, the characters are dimensionless and flat, the story is the classic rudimentary struggle between the MI6, the CIA and Russian intelligence, and even their mutual intrigue and deception isn't as good as I would have liked. The whole thing feels terribly sterile, far too "clean" for the subject matter, and it doesn't really offer anything of note. Die-hard fans of the spy genre and these interplaying secret services probably won't grumble, but for the rest of us it's a waste of four hours. A skippable below-par thing. ()
