Anna, a 44-year-old textile engineer, notices a French family touring Budapest. She begins to follow the three people, obsessed with an idea. Eventually, she discloses a hidden phase of her life to her friend, János. In 1956, she and her husband left the country, and their daughter was born in Vienna. After her husband's unexpected death, she entrusted the daughter to the care of strangers, who soon vanished. Anna is now quite certain that the French girl, Marie, is her daughter, and when the Aubiers - seemingly due to her obsession - return to Paris, she follows them. It turns out that Marie is a seriously ill kidney patient and that she needs a donor. Anna is a suitable donor and their blood kinship is a crucial argument supporting Anna's belief. She saves Marie's life without revealing her true reason. But János knows that Marie is not her daughter, after all. (official distributor synopsis)
