Father José María Morelos y Pavón is sent to Saint Agustin’s church in Carácuaro in 1798. He clashes with the rich families in the area for helping those in need. Morelos joins the insurgent cause and as he begins to organize the independence movement there, his peasant followers take control of Carácuaro. (Morelia International Film Festival)
