Plots(1)
A beautiful Chinese woman visiting Detective Wong (Boris Karloff) at his home is mysteriously struck by a poisoned dart and dies in Wong's study. The only clue at the crime scene is an unfinished, hastily scrawled note that reads, "Captain J." Wong later learns from persistent reporter Bobby Logan (Marjorie Reynolds) that the murdered woman is Princess Lin Hwa (Lotus Long), who was visiting San Francisco to acquire planes for defense against Japanese invasion. Soon after the princess's death, her maid Lilly May (Bessie Loo) and a dwarf (Angelo Rossitto), whose identity is unknown, are found dead - victims of the poisoned dart that did the princess in. Wong manages to track two captains with "J" initials to the San Francisco harbor. Both men are considered suspect along with a shady banker (Huntley Gordon), but before he can smoke out the killer, Wong gets kidnapped. Can the captive detective solve the mystery and save himself?
