College varsity tennis coach Chip is charged with the impossible task of whipping the tennis team into shape to win the regional college tennis tournament. Chip is getting heat from the athletic director who wants to do away with the tennis team so he can have the additional funds for his football team and the college president who wants to win a title in some sport. But when they get a shot at going to Vegas for the championship, our group of misfits are more interested in fun than winning. The film features a very young Mariska Hargitay, who went on to star on Law & Order Special Victims Unit and Tom Shadyac, who went on to become a director (The Nutty Professor, Bruce Almighty and Liar Liar).
