Understanding the new, post-communist world is difficult for a former Solidarity activist: he suddenly is thrust into it after leaving the monastery where he'd been hiding since 1980s. His wife and children have already succumbed to all the temptations of the modern era. One of the best Polish crazy comedies shows the reality of Central Europe at the turn of the millennium in the worst possible light. The film's quality stems from excellent cast, starring the director, scriptwriter and the main character, Jerzy Stuhr. His son, Maciej Stuhr, and his now frequently cast Roma Gasirowska gained their first experience in feature film in this comedy. (Febiofest)
