In the international America’s Cup sailing yacht regattas, USA’s crew, led by the young yachtsman Will Parker, loses to the Australian crew led by Jack Neville after a spirited struggle. For the first time in the history of the races, the Americans lose the title. Will decides to win it back. He also has to struggle to win back the love of marine pilot and sailor Kate Bass; the love, which due to the sports ambitions of Bill, as well as due to the chauvinism of his promoter, Morgan Weld, is jeopardised. This superb seafaring film, based on real events that took place between 1983 and 1987, delights not only sailing fans. (Camerimage)

English The film has well-chosen actors, but the chemistry between them doesn't work. Yet Wind isn’t based on romance, which in the end is pretty much killed and almost pointless, it stands on how well the races on the sea are filmed, and they are indeed filmed really well. It's breathtaking, and I think it would almost be good enough if the film was just about the races. ()
