A repeated joke ceases to be funny, so this movie isn't really very funny and rather relies on being somewhat emotional and cute. Unfortunately, this is not enough, which is a real pity. Eddie Murphy is a good actor, but he simply decided to do comedies during this period, but they ended up not being that funny.
