I'm not even sure why, but I just got caught up in the portrayal of the time, the place, the dance, as well as the realization that fanaticism in faith is absurd. Kevin Bacon is here as a rebel, but a kind one, just like the whole film is kind. It has a bit of Saturday Night Fever in it but without the downright dark shades. It’s too bad there aren't many dance scenes. ()
