I unfortunately was at the cinema with my small children during the premiere of Valiant and I must say that it was a mistake. The basic idea and the skeleton of the story are solid, but the specific screenplay and characterization of the individual characters are not. The core problem lies in placing the story on the front line of World War II and attempting to create a spectacle clearly intended for younger children. Some associations are quite funny, but they are mostly appreciated by adults. Many attempts at humor fall flat and the characters are only superficially outlined. Overall impression: 40%.
