Robert Shaw stars as Major Kabakov, an Israeli agent attempting to avert a terrorist atrocity on US soil. The weapon: a blimp laced with explosives and piloted by Michael Lander (Bruce Dern), a troubled Vietnam vet driven to strike back against the nation he believes has betrayed him. The target: the Orange Bowl stadium, Miami. What follows is a nail-biting race against time culminating in a spectacular aerial climax that will determine the fate of 80,000 spectators. Adapted from the best-selling debut novel by Thomas Harris and featuring virtuoso performances by a cast headlined by Dern, Shaw and Marthe Keller, Black Sunday is a nerve-shredding, best-in-class suspense thriller from a filmmaker at the top of his game. English John Frankenheimer he is one of the best action directors (not only) of his time! I didn't mind a single second of the film, it's gripping and suspenseful, it exudes old school while still being relevant. I also recommend the book. ()

English From Thomas Harris, I only know the series about Lecter, so I wanted to know what his other stories look like, or at least their film adaptations. This is exactly the film "Black Sunday". It is the only book by Thomas Harris that does not feature the character Hannibal Lecter. The film clearly has a bit of a "The Day of the Jackal" style. We follow the preparations for an assassination that is planned to take place during the Super Bowl. The idea is interesting, the execution is sometimes good, but overall it's not that strong and it's a bit drawn out. ()
