Dominic Toretto drives the streets of LA like he owns them. As far as his crew is concerned, he does. He spends his days rebuilding high performance race cars and perfecting the art of computer controlled fuel injection. By night, Dom pockets up to $10,000 each time someone dares to race him in his own earth-bound rocket of a car. Dom lives off of the adrenaline of street car racing and his fans treat him like a rock star. Brian particularly looks up to Dominic and seeks his approval, but to the rest of the crowd, he's white bread. After a blazing encounter with the ruthless Johnny Tran, Dom decides to take Brian under his wing. Dom's sister Mia sees something she likes in Brian, too. Trouble is, neither of them realize he's an undercover cop and Dominic and his rival Johnny Tran are both the leading suspects in a case involving dirty money and big-rig hijacking. English The story is very similar to (I'd almost say ripped off of) Point Break, but with the surfboards replaced by fast cars. Whatever. It has pace, the plot moves forward briskly and the weak plot is not a bad thing. I don't really like cars, but I was definitely not bored. ()

English When the characters say nothing and concentrate on their driving, this has lots of juice, but whenever they get out of their hot rods, this movie suddenly plunges into the depths of low quality. I award one star for Vin Diesel, who is forced on several occasions to carry the movie forward alone. If he had been supported a little by the director, the screenwriter (if there was one) or at least one more actor, then things would have turned out considerably better. ()

English A rip-off of Point Break, a much better film in all aspect. Rob Cohen is a B-movie director who doesn't know what he's doing and drowns in tons of clichés and tough talk. If he thinks he can impress with a plotless film where fast cars, beautiful women, and tough talk dominate, he is sorely mistaken. Once is enough. The Fast and the Furious is usable, but even in the action film genre it doesn't make a hole in the world. But there are bright moments. Vin Diesel has charisma, Jordana Brewster is gorgeous, and so are all scenes with her. The action is nothing special, not even the car chases, the only truly memorable one is the showdown with the Ferrari on the highway by the coast. ()

English Not nearly as bad as I remembered it. In fact, it's an easily digestible story, seen hundreds of times, but filmed with swing, decent main characters, and lots of ungainly tuned-up cars (and one beautiful Dodge Charger, but it doesn't come until the end). The racing scenes are pretty cool, but the highlight of the film is an honest-to-goodness truck ambush action scene – cliché or not, by that point I had grown quite fond of everyone and enjoyed it as much as the final payoff. English This almost cult-classic didn't really win me over. It's nice that these dudes can get to 100 in three seconds, but building an entire movie around the roar of an engine just isn't my style. I consider what Justin Lin has done with this series in the fifth instalment to be an absolute miracle. 55% ()

English "Fast and Furious" is now basically an action classic, in addition to being one of the longest-running series that still holds its place at the top of the genre, and with the new installments, it also gains in quality. It is interesting that the fifth installment is rated the highest of all. The series made a star out of Paul Walker, who doesn't deserve it, but so be it, that's just how it is. Vin Diesel didn't need anyone to make him a star, he made himself one, only to occasionally ruin his status with some nonsense like "The Protector". However, it is true that "Fast and Furious" still helped him in his career. The film is interesting mainly because it combines pretty good action with a fairly interesting story. Paul Walker plays a policeman and has eerily blue eyes. However, even the viewer thinks for a large part of the film that Paul is a cool guy like the rest, but that's not the case. He needs to infiltrate the gang of car thieves. Apparently, the leader of the thieves is played by Diesel. In this regard, the viewer remains tense as they are not sure if he really is the thief or not. Thanks to the fact that the film was the first, it was new and could catch your attention. The action was worth it, especially for car enthusiasts, it was a perfect film. I appreciate the effort, and I must say that after watching all five films in three days - long live DVD box sets - I quite enjoyed the series. But that doesn't mean I will start to like Paul Walker because of it. More: http://www.filmovy-denik.cz/2012/08/warrior-x-ms-1-sibir-5x-rychle-zbesile.html ()
