Rosha Cohen is about to turn 60, and the occasion reunites the family in Sweden. Her Orthodox daughter Deborah leaves husband and children behind in Israel to jooin her mother; and her son David, living in Florida with his boyfriend, returns to Sweden, too. Rosha´s youngest daughter, Angelique - also called Freud - is still living at home with her parents. freud often tends to psychologize things, hence the nickname. She´s always on the verge of moving away from home, but, somehow, she never quite actually does so. Rosha has had some tests conducted at a hospital. When the results arrive, the festive atmosphere surrounding her 60th birthday celebration abruptly shifts to one of grief: Rosha is terminally ill; there is no hope of her recovery. In grief, anger, and desperation, Freud flees with a man she meets at a discotheque. But Rosha needs Freud, and now it´s Freud´s turn to be the stronger. She returns home to her family and her sick mother. (official distributor synopsis)
