The happy-go-lucky Smiley (Keith Calvert) gets into more strife as he attempts to turn over a new leaf and prove himself a responsible citizen by not only helping others but also keeping out of trouble. Sergeant Flaxman (Chips Rafferty, Forty Thousand Horsemen) keeps a close eye on the rapscallion and takes note of his good deeds by marking 'nicks' on a tree outside of his father's (Reg Lye) blacksmith shop in an attempt to remind him of his objective - to earn a brand new .22 rifle of his own. The challenge is set and the stakes are high as Smiley goes about his days in a madcap manner desperately trying to earn the 8 'nicks' needed to finally. (Umbrella Entertainment)
