English A surprisingly cold and distant erotic ride that rather than with atmosphere and sexuality, impresses with incredibly polished dialogues and great directorial ideas. The cinematography is brilliant, with an often unusual and detailed interest in facial details and macro shots. Both leads possess what is essential, and that is of course attractiveness. Kim Basinger is an incredibly beautiful woman, and succumbing to Mickey Rourke's charisma probably wouldn't be too difficult. Unfortunately, the overall extravagant and unusual atmosphere and feeling of the film are disrupted by several annoying scenes, which at the time must have given a truly futuristic impression, but now, two decades later, they are rather like an eyesore. Essentially, the film lacks plot and deeper meaning, yet it is still watchable, primarily due to its burning passion, an element that Adrian Lyne handles brilliantly. ()

English An incredibly sexy film where Kim Basinger shows how beautiful she is and how well she can present herself, both as somewhat reserved and as completely uninhibited. She and Mickey are a perfect match and they make a great couple. One immediately realizes that "Fifty Shades of Something" drew inspiration from it. It's just a shame the film doesn't end properly. ()
