Tommi, a little boy, disappears from a small village and his father is accused of killing him. He gets released for insufficient evidence as they can't find the body. Five years later, the abandoned body of a little boy is found. His DNA matches Tommi's. The case is seemingly closed, but Tommi's mother doesn't believe this is her son. Krampus is an interesting contemporary trend, and Italian creators have decided to make a film about it - not through the horror route, but rather a thriller that will have very strong realistic elements, i.e., investigation, media scrutiny, and psychological issues of the characters. Probably the last one is the strongest, although the ending is still kind of weird.
