English Factory Girl fails in its initial intention to shoot a biographical film about a contemporary star of American pop culture from the 60s, who soon overdosed on drugs. The script doesn't aspire to anything more than capturing the life story of a frivolous girl from a wealthy family, but that is far too little. Edie Sedgwick was not a remarkable personality, and she simply isn't interesting enough as the central protagonist of the film. This would work, let's say, with Janis Joplin, but in this case, an insignificant drug victim, the film should have been about Warhol Factory, the bizarre environment of the New York artistic community saturated with drugs and their snobbish clientele. The only positive here is Sienna Miller, who truly suits the role, even though drugs are inevitably pulling her down. It's here that one realizes what inspired the heroin chic style of the 90s fashion. There is nothing else interesting about this film. Overall impression: 35%. ()
