English Within the category of horror films whose plot is partially based on a killer seaweed, The Rift might be considered a top movie. Otherwise, it is a fairly average horror, a successor to Cameron's The Abyss, which is stretched out slightly and too slow at the beginning and it takes a good half of the movie before the hardcore action comes, but then The Rift pulls out a fairly diverse plethora of sea monsters and offers some disgustingly slimy practical effects. Overall, The Rift is an OK canapé but you should not have great expectations. ()
