Ladányi, a landowner of 800 acres lives high in Ádámháza, while his bailiff, Pókai keeps on raiding him. Ladányi stood bail for a relative of his, who then escapes paying the bill by killing himself. The estate should be reorganised because the lawyer, Darázs, his family and their relative, Vincze Jóska would like to get hold of it at a cheap rate. Vincze wants to marry Ladányi Katica. The engineer, Áron helps the Ladányi family escape bankruptcy. He also likes the girl. Encouraged by Áron the Ladányi family renovates a poor pension and they get strong again.
