Enyedy Nóra, spending her holidays in Kalotafő, the idyllic little village of Kalotaszeg secluded in the mountains, falls in love with the lonely young painter, Hegyi Ádám. When the girl returns home they agree to meet in three months' time. Due to a fatal accident, the lovers miss each other at the site of the rendez-vous. From this time they both believe the emotions of the other to have cooled. Nóra accepts the attentions of the president of the Art Support Committee, Karsady Géza, and she becomes his fiancée. Ádám travels to Rome and with great difficulties he becomes a significant painter. He wins the art award with his painting entitled The Madonna of Kalotaszeg, depicting Nóra in traditional Kalotaszeg costume. The painting is displayed in Budapest as well and every misunder-standing is cleared away. Karsady realises that Nóra is still in love with the painter. The painting convinces Nóra of Ádám's true love towards her. (official distributor synopsis)
