English This guy simply had an incredible voice already at the age of twenty-three. Of course, I am talking about John Wayne, who is the star of the movie "The Big Trail". This is his first role, and actually one of the first roles where he was credited by name. If I'm not mistaken, it is the first time he is here as John Wayne. He first appeared in the credits as Duke Morrison in the movie "Words and Music". John Wayne here plays exactly what is expected of him. A proper, seasoned man for his age, who is supposed to lead pioneers through states on their journey towards a better future. The bravery of these men and women knows no bounds. Yes, it is a celebration of the human spirit and strength, but it is not as pathetically sentimental as some contemporary films. ()
