English I'd like to say that Tom DiCillo's films are like Kofola: if you love them, that’s all you need to know. But that doesn’t apply in this case. It would also be tempting to say that slagging a film starring acting god Steve Buscemi is nearly impossible, but it was damn close to it. I don't know, perhaps it have been called 'Crossroads 2: The Britney Spears Story Continues'? Tom DiCillo set such a high bar for himself with his first three films that he has only lowered it since. English I was sitting by the TV, clearing out trash from my drawer and this happened to be playing. And it’s good. A really sleazy Steve Buscemi, the embodiment of the worst attributes of a paparazzi, carries this sickly sweet movie right up high, counterbalancing the naive fairytale about a homeless bum who finds happiness.
